Shifter cable adjustment?
Hello
I had a momentary attack of stupid and changed the setting on the shifter cable of a 97 Monte Carlo LS. (removed the clip, tugged the cable, whole nine yards). Now Park isn't Park and Reverse is somewhere between Drive and Neutral. Can anyone help me get the shifter and cable adjusted correctly? Thanks! |
ive got a similuar problem but unfortunitly no one likes to answer threads on this forum, theres also realy not a whole lot of info on this forum for monte carlos, atleast not like my other forum for my bronco, fullsizebronco.com there you can find any answer to any question possible that has to deal with broncos.
kinda disapointed with the lack of knowledge about monte carlos on the interwebs |

Pop the clip on the adjuster on the shift cable. Now put one hand on the adjuster, and one hand on the shift cable towards the firewall and push together. This will slide the shift cable all the way to park on the transmission. If you look down below the brake fluid reservoir, you can see the end of the shift cable where it connects to the transmission. I believe in park, the lever on the transmission should be all the way towards the firewall, and if it were in D2 it should be pointed all the way towards the front of the car. How about next time you ask nicely :) http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l1...shiftcable.jpg |
