So i have bein checkin out the shift kits these sights are selling for like thirty bucks.... Are they worth it? Or should i dish out one hundred for the shift kit at 3800performance.com? that big of a difference? Has anyone installed a set ? Any pros cons? Also would it work with twenty inch rims? *Dont currently have* Im NA so a little chirp would be nice.... lol

Shift kits are basically just spacers to change the firmness of your shift. You don't even need to buy a kit if you don't want to, just the parts in the kit separately.

IMO $100 for a shift kit is insane. Yes, I know they come with stiffer springs, but man thats steep.

Really, a basic shift kit can be done for like $5 plus a new tranny pan gasket (although I've seen cheapskates just rtv the stock gasket back on. The only parts that are really necessary are those little aluminum spacers- 4 of them. Their lengths determine how stiff the kit is. Add springs and they get even more stiff.

like these:

I remember on clubgp.com/forum that they had posted in the tranny section the exact ID, and what lengths were for what stiffness you wanted (I want to say 1" long on both top and bottom for the most extreme kit, then 3/4" and 1/2" for the softer kits). If you didn't want to research it and get some from the hardware, you could always just buy a cheap kit. I personally don't think the springs are all that big of a deal unless you do the longest spacers and are looking for the harshest shifts possible (they can get REALLY crazy done all the way).

I did the medium kit on my monte, but didn't bother with my gtp, because I realized you can get a similar effect as a medium kit with just pcm tuning. I definitely wouldn't reccomend getting a set that claims 'harsh' or 'race' set- they're way too hard for daily driving IMO. A regular kit isn't that bad though.

so a little chirp would be nice
NA, I doubt you'll chirp them. It obviously only makes a chirp on the shifts, and your 1-2 shift is almost 40 mph. I'm betting that your car barely spins the tires from a dead stop, so getting it to chirp the tires on the 1-2 shift is likely going to take an insanely stiff shift kit.

Also would it work with twenty inch rims?
I sure wouldn't bother. IMO, any very slight speed gain will be easily negated by the much heavier wheels; not to mention- you're going to put extra stress on your transmission with both.

To me forever to get back on and check the responses i really appreciate it! Yea its NA so.... your right probably wont chirp them... And as far as goin with twentys changed my mind on that too! lol Guess i really need to decide which route i want go fast ( Super/or turbo) or take it low and slow... So it really wont make that big a difference overall? Should i just go the pcm route and have it set that way? And while im at it have the lag removed that happens at 40 mph?
