Picking new transmission

Ok my current trans finally is giving up at 220k. I've found a great deal on a trans out of a 2005 mcss with only 52k miles for $400! My 2000 mcss trans is a 3.29 ID LDB, the one I'm about to purchase Monday is a 3.29 also but OPT FR9.

Does the LDB/FR9 matter? Gear ratios are the same both out of a 3.8 Monte Carlo N/A.

Thanks for any and all help!

Found this thread on the forum here, perhaps the 2005 tranny will not work in a 2000 Monte. From what I'm reading the electronics were changed in 2003, so only a 2000-2002 tranny will cross fit. View the link and read down to the 7th posting, Dave from Triple Edge Performance says it will not work.

Perhaps others will chime in will more accurate information.

If dave at triple edge performance says it won't work then it won't work. Dave is a very knowledgeable guy and a very good trans builder. This is who built my trans i have in turbo monte right now. He has also been working with me with my trans tune to make everything perfect. He is an awesome guy!

Thanks a lot guys. There's no telling how much trouble I would have ran into. Luckily I've already spotted a trans with my same id tag as plan b. So the id tag won't matter as long as it's from a 2000-2002 correct? Just for clarification.

From what I read on the linked page the tags "MUST" match perfectly. Re-read the page an see if you concur...
