P128 trouble code
 

I keep getting engine code p128. The engine is not coming up to temp in the alotted amount of time.

It seems to be triggered by inlet air temp and engine coolant temp and one other sensor I can't remember.

My questions, in which order should I change these sensors? Has anyone else corrected this problem?

Make sure the radiator is full of coolant. If it is, replace your T-stat (odds are it's hanging open, circulating coolant continuously, not letting the engine properly warm up).

Does your temp gauge move at all??

Yeah temp gauge seems normal last time I checked. My daughter is the primary driver.

I had been adding coolant other than dexcool... thought they were all compatible. The elbow pipe seals seep a little bit.

Maybe there is trapped air in the system? Will it burp out the radiator fill cap if I jack that corner or do you bleed it somewhere else?

Go check what you are adding. Make sure it is compatible. Not everything is, the green stuff IS NOT compatible and will turn the dexcool to sludge.

If you are adding, you should do a full flush, and clean out the system with distilled water.

What car do you have? And what engine.

If the car isn't warming properly it's either going to be a sensor or the tstat going bad

Or maybe sludge in the coolant system if you've been adding the green trash to your dexcool....

Yeah I found some muddy sludge under the cap. An air bubble was there also. I'll be doing a full flush when I do those elbow pipes after the winter.

Sludge you say... Might be time to change the intake gaskets too...

Sludge could also just be old age and breakdown.
