Default Oil Consumtion ! JESUS!

After switching from a 06 LS to a 07 SS, the oil consumtion is NUTS! What kind of oil do you 7th gen guys use and how long does it generally last before your next change...mine only lasted about 1k miles then I had to refill...but it actually was STUPID low. And yes i did check for any leaks or drops, and there are none. My car is parked majority of the day, so I would know.

Any tips fellas?! ;p

Oil consumption in the SS is due to the DOD system. pretty much everyone I talk to with the LS4 has that problem.

my tip: get the DOD system tuned off.

Yea I haven't noticed mine consuming any oil either. I still have DOD on. Though it may be because I do 98% city driving so DOD never kicks in.

it will kick on in town. most of the reason why I got rid of mine. It was so annoying when it would. I started driving in 3rd gear just to make it stop.

Mine's at 83,000 miles (DOD enabled) and tends to use about 3/4-1 quart every 4-5,000 miles. There's a sticky thread on this issue over on GMLS4 Forum > Burning Oil... GM Bulletin..... I've seen some absolutely insane oil consumption numbers some people are getting.

I just did a oil change on my 07 about maybe 1.5k miles agoish? And i had to fill up some more. I know the filter was good so ill wait out till the heat dies down again and try something new. I tried a syn blend this time with a chart to check it. and try and keep track.

I run Mobil 1 full synthetic. I've only been doing one oil change per year the past couple because the car is stored winters and I only drive it maybe 5k miles total per year. I change the oil right before it's stored; it's part of my winter storage prep for the car. I'll maybe have to add a bit towards the end of the season, however I don't think I did last year. It was more of a problem when the car was my daily driver 2+ years ago.
