No A/C

I have a 2001 SS, the A/C compressor was just replaced. Now there is no power to the compressor. It will run if power is put directly to it. I am brand new to the Monte Carlo... it isn't even registered yet, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or had a similar problem. Thank you in advance for any help.

I would check all the fuses and relays. There are fuse boxes on both sides of the dash and under the hood. Also check the connections. If there was power before It has to be a fuse or connection.

Did the shop that replaced it put enough freon in?

I don't know, they still have it, but they say that when they put power directly to it the compressor kicks on.

If these systems are low on freon the compressor won't kick on (these systems have oil to lubricate the parts) it's to protect.

I would ask them if they put enough in. These cars do take a good amount.

Chibi is right about the is freon. If the freon is too low, as a safety, the compressor will NOT turn on. I've seen people re-charge the A/C on a car and once enough freon enters the system, the compressor kicks on.

Or maybe they filled it up, but you have a leak elsewhere.

Ok, for those interested, my Monte is at the dealership now, the wires from the BCM to the PCM is being replaced. They say that that should be the problem. I will know in a few hours. Another $375!

I would think you would have much more problems if those wires were bad...
