Default Lost electrical connector.

Hey guys, Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I recently lost a rod in my 2002 monte SS. I replaced the motor with another low mileage series II 3800 this weekend, but I've got one connector that has me stumped. Coming out of the wire loom at the same location as the two alternator connectors and O2 sensor plug I have a 2 pin (2 wire) connector with nothing to plug it into. The boot around it appears to be dirty like it wasn't plugged into anything before, but I'm curious what this is for. It's only about 4" long where it comes out of the main loom by the alternator.

Does anyone know what this connector is for? Or can someone please check theirs and let me know what they discover? Thanks so much for any help on this.

Yea i also have a loose connector by my alternator. It might be used on the supercharged engines?

The one behind the alternator is an extra connector... Mine had a black rubbery cap over it so I know its not connected to anything.

It is probably the connector for the AIR system. Some cars had it and some didn't.

Best way to see if you have it or not is to check the underhood fuse box. You will see a spot on the front cover for "AIR system" but it will have dotted lines around it and there will be no relay in the fuse box.

YEah i found this plug on my 01ss also. It dint have a cap on it, and it does have power to it. Iwork ina boat factory and we throw away caps all the time that fit this plug, so mine is now capped.
