Increase HP

A couple of weeks ago I blew the motor in my 2000 monte carlo SS. I plan on purchasing a new 3800 series and swapping it myself. I was wanting to see if there were any quick, easy, cheap ways to increase horsepower. Such as exhaust, intake, etc. Let me know your thoughts on the subject.

If you are getting a salvage motor, get a 2005 or newer L26 3800 Series 3 to replace your L36 Series 2.
DO NOT get a 2004 Series 3 as there is no point in that.
Now, here's why:
1 - It's a direct swap with some minor options
2 - In 05+ some of the internals were "beefed" up (forged parts instead of cast, higher durability)
3 - If you want to buy the additional $100 adapter plate, you can keep the aluminum upper intake and bolt your throttle body up to it. If not, it's a direct swap to put your plastic intake and throttle body on it.
4 - It's a newer engine, hopefully EASIER to find a low miles one.

There is a thread somewhere on here from member Franks 03SS where his 3800 S2 motor blew and he swapped in a 3800 S3.

Just my opinion, but if I had to swap the engine, I'd get a '05+ L26 Series 3.
