...If you can place a cardboard under your car & see where it's falling. Sometimes it drips on your hot exhaust pipes & cooks away, but leaves a smell of burning oil...
well it seems like it could be a few things 1. leaking valve cover gasket 2. oil pan is damaged 3. head gasket. i am gonna go with valve cover gasket for sure I just had that same problem Plugged or damaged pcv valve; Loose or damaged oil drain plug; Worn or broken piston rings. u have an oil leak. the leaking oil is blowing or running onto hot parts in vehicle whether it be the exhaust manifold(leaking valve cover gasket)or the exhaust pie, leaks from anywhere lower than exhaust manifold will run down and blow back and usually burn on lower parts of exhaust system Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_would_...#ixzz1BZrgTb6W Check back to see what our Expert Tech Member's post about your problem....Below is from a Dr Googles Search...Hope it helps, & please check back on your thread to see what others say..Good Luck ... - \Burning smell inside car? - \ More results from answers.yahoo.com » |
Was the oil changed recently? Is there smoke? Is your oil level proper on the dipstick?

Here is an idea that many would not think about, I didn't either until I saw it. My mom has a 2000 Bonneville, and on of the clamps for the CV boot was loose, so the grease was being flung out all over the place. The grease was what we kept smelling after driving it (smelt like burnt oil). So next time your under the car, check on your CV boots and see if there is evidence of grease thrown all over.

have you checked the valve cover gaskets?
|
Im going to second the valve covers and the gaskets. They are just plastic and if they are older or have been removed there might be some plastic around the inside lip missing and allowing a bit of oil to seep past the gasket.

Valve cover gaskets x3. Check them before your car turns into a 3800 BBQ.

yes i changed the oil about three weeks ago , its at a proper level and no there is no smoke , i'm thinking its time to change the valve cover gaskets too . it has to be that because i dont see leaks anywhere else at all....
