High idle on 95 Z34
 

Am new to MC Forum. Have a 1965 Z34 in a 77 Vega with 700R4. Runs great but every now and then it will idle a 3000 and woun't come down. I scan it and only code I get is P1650 which tells me that the trans is not connected to ECM. I can't see where that will make it idle fast. Right now it is OK. Could anyone help me with this problem Thanks.

i havent heard of the code you referd to but then i have the stock tranny hooked up in mine.

But you might start looking at the vacume lines and make sure none of them are craked or comming lose on you.

Also i had a frend of the wifes that was doing this once in a while and foudn the throttel cabel was bad in it andf i repleced it the issue went away.
The way i found it is i lubed it up with a cabel luber at first and it was eaier for her for a while then it just got worse again.

the inside of the cabels will ball up and then cause the cabel to stick slightily and it could be open or closed when it sticks.


one other thing to check is to see abotu the high idel circut for the choke assembly on the older cars they liked to get sticky from time to time also.
