Help with head gasket

Just recently noticed it’s time to replace my head gasket and I was just woundering if it would be better to get a thicker one or a thinner one.

I woudnt bother, the compression difference is nearly nothing. I'd focus more on getting a good quality gasket.

Don't change the gasket thickness unless you have the heads milled or block decked. A thicker gasket could potentially throw off pushrod size length

Completely agree with Turbo monte on gasket thickness. If you don't get heads plained ,make sure you get the mating surface's clean I only use a wire wheel on a die grinder because it won't grind away the surface like buffing pads and usually will get into most of the crevices

Thank I’ll be keeping this all in mind the more I look into it looks like im going to pull the engine and rebuild it with better part in it

Any recommend rebuilt kits

If that's route your thinking buy a new or rebuilt from a reputable source, they come with a warranty.

Don't touch the bottom end, they are super strong. If you have a bottom end issue go get another engine. It's cheaper to replace the bottom end then to rebuild it.

I don't use a wire wheel to clean gasket surface do to brissles can come off and fall into the cylinder. I just use a razor blade and acetone.
