Help with back plugs

what is the best way to access the back 3 spark plugs on a 3400 monte carlo?...what needs to be removed etc...?

Undo the dog bones, and rock the engine forward.

Also some people like to use a ratchet strap and tie it to something (like a tree) and the other end to the engine mount and pull it forward and hold it that way.

So just because i'm curious for the next time I replace spark plugs, when you undo the two dog bone engine mounts, does the engine really just rock forward? There is nothing else that needs to be loosened under the car? Just undoing those two mounts allows you to move the engine forward without doing any harm to lower mounts, or the transmission?

It's not like the thing is moving a substantial amount, it will move the length of the dog-bones... what is that like 6"?

And it's not SUPER easy to rock it.

Well I might just have to try that when I replace my plugs again at 100K.....

People don't like this idea but look up "Engine tilter" in the search for the forums. I bought one and it worked great for me basically same thing as the strap but you don't have to worry about a strap coming loose or the thing the strap is connected to breaking off. Was worth is for the piece of mind.

Yes- the only thing keeping it from really moving at that point are the lower mounts which are rubber. The higher the mileage and the more worn the lowers are, the easier it will be to rock. Everything else will just flex with it (hoses, axles, etc).

no, the dealership will make you buy the puller, the labor to to open the box, smoke a cigarette, use the bathroom, change the plugs, and then charge you "Shop fee's" which boils down to toilet paper and shop rags...

and no, i have no love for dealerships...lol
