The Heads Are Done

Well, I got my heads back from the shop a few days ago. They've been ported, and had a complete three angle valve job done. Here are the pics.

I will be putting the car back together as soon as I get enough time off work, with the weather permitting. I was hoping to be able to do it tomorrow, but it's supposed to rain most of the day, then back to work Thursday. If I only had a garage... Friday I get off at 2 though, so I may be able to put just the heads back on and take it one step at a time.

Looks sweet, can i ask what it cost you?

That looks awesome. What does that do for the performance? Ill be buildig my own engine for my car someday but first I gotta figure out what to do.

It cost me $450 total. A buddy of mine ported them for $200, and the shop did the valve job (including new seals) for $250.

For performance, it allows smoother/better airflow. It's essentially the same as porting a throttle body/supercharger/exhaust manifold. I'm curious to see what kind of gains I get from it. It also helps breathing if an aftermarket cam is installed - but I won't be doing a cam for a year or so.

nice! are you going to be running L67 or L32 intake/exhaust valves?

here's mine was ported by (T3P) triple edge performance using L32 valves. have enuff clearance to run 1.7 rockers but going to leave to stock for now.

Yours look pretty nice too. I'm running stock L67 valves. Had I known I'd get a decent job, I would've gotten the ZZP stainless steel valves - but the reason I brought the heads to the shop in the first place was to go ahead and get them ready to go back on the car, in case I had to sell my DD and drive the Monte. But, I got lucky and did get a job just in time. I can't wait to get these suckers back on the car and actually drive it, I haven't driven the Monte any more than 2 miles since last November.
