Default engine swap questions.

I have a 2000 monte carlo ss with a series 2 3800 engine. Would I be able to easly switch that out and put in a series 3 3800supercharged engine? Is there anything extra that would have to be changed?

You would want to swap it with the series 2 supercharged engine, so that you don't have to convert your TB and such.

You would need the Engine, trans, axles, PCM and engine harness from the donor.

Is it a MUST when it comes to the tranny? someone said I could use my stock tranny and the pcm would have to be reprogrammed

Well that's fine because when I plan on getting a engine swap might as well get a better transmission. Also are the other changes you have to make difficult and costly ?

I prefer it, because in 2003 they made a change to the transmission and the stock .bin file from an 04/05 supercharged Monte wouldn't make that connection, so you would have to have a custom .bin made.

Monster ive been looking into it for a few weeks and ive already started, from what ive read its %99 plug and play, not motor mount changing or anything, the axle would have to be the only thing custom

theres a sticky thread on it from bumpin96monte,it gives a general idea, and im not %100 sure on the axle,i think you have to use half the 3.8 axle to bolt up to the transmission, then use your other stock half for the outer pieces, maybe someone will come in and clear it up,like I said im not %100 sure, but il be swapping in the next 2-3 months (if everything goes right) and il post a walk through for the 00-05 montes

Shouldn't have to make custom axles, stock 3800 axles for a 6th gen would work I'd think
