Thats a 89 350 5.7 roller 4 bolt main block. Only thing I could thing of is sleeves. I dont think hey could weld that could they?

Budsjlm 09-21-2009 08:56 PM

i dont even know how that would happen... i think that block may just be a paper weight now....IDK that it can be fixed...but bring it to a machine shop see what they say

your probably better off seeing what the machine shop has laying around rather then wasting time and money on a cracked block.

my machine shop guy said that it is fixable, he said you could tap the crack and plug it, and then deck the block and you will never see it.(depends on how far down the crack goes, but you may have to sleeve it as well.)

he also said he has a 350 4 bolt main block sitting in his shop right now if you want a new one, he would come off it for $150 + shipping... (block and crank)

I was gonna say- a 350 should be common as dirt; I'd toss the cracked one and pick up a different block.

x2 all you need is the block, you have the rotating assembly. IMO minor cost for the piece of mind.

yeah pick up another block. they're a dime a dozen and cheap insurance compared to what could happen down the road if you kept the cracked one.
