Buying a transmission for l67

Heyy guys back here I have acquired an l67 with 100k miles on it for 600 dollars sweet now I need the heavy duty tranny to go with it. I know I need the 4t65e-HD but does it matter where or what I get it out of is it automatically compatible with any l67/5.3? Should I get it Refurbished or used from eBay?

Gearing may be different, but that could be tuned... I think they'll all physically bolt up, but you should probably stick with one that was attached to an L67/L32.

I would be looking for aL67/L32 transmission because the 5.3L V8 has a different bolt pattern. I don't think the made a special block just for FWD cars but I have been wrong on occasion. Good luck

I didn't know the 5.3 transmission had a different bolt pattern. Then again, I'm not all into the car scene like I used to be.

The LS4 has the FWD bolt pattern. IMO that's one of the biggest reasons that their value is so low compared to other LS stuff since they don't have many easy bolt on options for good RWD trans.

Regardless, the OP wouldn't want one anyways as there are other complications and no reason to pay a premium anyways when any old 4t65 will do.

I don't even need the HD version?

No, you don't need the HD. But keep in mind you will need to tune for the different gear ratio. I think the non HD ratio is 3.29 and the HD ratio is 2.93, but it's been a while.

My future plans are 300hp still would the HD still be a good idea?

Do you want a cheap used trans, or a good trans? If you are willing to spend the money, I would contact Dave at TripleEdgePerformance and let him know your build and he will build you a trans.

If you want a used trans, everyone else is giving great information already in this thread :)
