BIG ENGINE PROBLEMS
Hey guys, got a serious problem. I go to start the car, it sputters and than stalls out. I try it again and again, and it starts but sounds like its hanging on for dear life. If i step on the throttle, the rpms go up to around 6000 rpms and everything makes crazy noises from the engine (2001 monte ls). My diagnostic scanner is giving code p0108. This all happened because I installed a tb spacer and a 180* temp stat. Before I did this, everything was fine. Upon looking around the engine, i found what i hope to be the cause of the problem. The plastic piece that plugs before the throttle body on the accordian piece of the intake, next to the iat sensor--- this piece is not plugged into the engine, its just plugged into the intake. So i try to plug it back into the engine, but it doesnt really fit 100% cuz of the spacer. Car still wont start right even tho it is plugged in. Should I see if a parts store carrys longer ones? Or can i modify the one i have. What the heck is this part anyway? vaccum hose? Is this most likely my problem or i there something else? I also have zero coolant in the upper radiator hose after the flush due to the t-stat install. I filled up at the radiator but since i cant get the car to really start, it wont run thru the radiator thus me not being able to bleed anything. According to phenoix, this is bad but not the cause of the problem at all. I loaded pics of the piece I am talking about in my album. I hope somebody can help, Thanks

well p0108 is map sensor(map sensor high i think) you may have accedently unpluged it, or disconnected it from the vacuum source. more likely you have a massive vacuum leak youre not seeing somewhere around the tb spacer.
the map sensor is between the upper intake and the ignition coils, from the top it just looks like a black box about 1"x3"
the hose youre talking about sounds like the pcv vent hose that runs from the intake air tube to the rear valve cover.i cant say ive tried it, but having it disconnected shouldnt cause this much of a problem, i wouldnt expect more than a rich/lean code at worst, due to air bypassing the maf.

When I took everything apart, I noticed a bolt i screwed in go caught on the bracket that holds the throttle cable on to the tb and was causing a gap in the spacer and the tb. the gap was only like 1/32 of an inch thick and it caused these problems. I ended up replacing the pcv valve anyway just bec ause I got the parts thinking that was the problem.
