Default Any possiblitys for a small engine?

I have the 3.1 LS '98 monte and really would like to put anything in my car to give it some extra go power. I am willing to spend up to $500 on each thing/system, but can't do an engine swap

I am looking for an exhaust set up like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10OL2eXP2okI really want it to sound like that and want to know what brands you guys think would work the best.

I have seen the other posts on a PVC CAI and want to know if that would be possible for my car because I havent found any aftermarket kits.

I am going to be replacing the shocks/ springs, and repacking the bearings for a better ride. What brand do you prefer of aftermarket parts? Also a new sway bar might be in the picture around summer time.

If you can think of anything else that could give me better perfromance let me know.

well you have a small port 3100 so your best bet is to get a 00+ big port 3100 or 3400 top end heads intakes and throttle body (can be had at the J/Y cheap ) and the get two front 3500 header style manifold and the make a custom dual exhaust system.
i know that switching from small port to big port cangain 30-40 hp alone so that would be a good start !

CAI, Exhaust work, headers, all things to squeeze a few more here and there. Try looking at pacesetter for headers, Wizair K&N system for the CAI, and exhaust can be heard online. your local muff shop will have to buy and install for ya.

K&N doesn't make a CAI and I haven't been able to find. I've spent about 3 hours looking on websites and different brands for one.

best thing to do is 3"exhaust pipes and a couple of cuplers and a cone filter. then build your own .thats what i do why pay over 100$ for something you can make for half price !

I was thinking about that, but I don't know what brands, legnths, etc to use. I prolly could figure it out, but my dad won't let me do anything to the engine unless he knows for sure it will keep it running decently.

well if all you want is a short ram all ya got to do is copy the stocker in form and lenght and put a cone at the end.
but if ya want a fender well intake you still have to copy the stocker till the filter but insted put another cupler and keep you pipe going.just make sure to put your air temp. sensor back in !

I would most likely do a short ram, but out of curriousity. What is the sensor, and where does it mount?
