Almost Overheating

I know there are several overheating threads out there, but i needed a little clarification and did not want to thread jack.

I have a 2000 LS (3.4L)
105,000 miles

The car gets really hot really fast, and stays hot, but never overheats...Yet.

I have a aeroforce gauge in there so i knew exactly how hot it war running.

On normal driving or highway driving or even parked in idle, the car will get to 215 degrees and stay there and if its really hot out it will get up to 225...

I have had the fans replaced and spinning, the radiator replaced (had a leak), the thermostat replaced (195 degree) and there are NO leaks, the coolant is topped off and not dirty. The oil was also recently changed.

I have a wizaired CAI, so the IAT is a little lower than it was when stock. (I think? is 20-30 degrees above ambient a good range)(with the enginge being as hot as it is?)

The only thing i haven't changed is the water pump. i was told that they rarely go out on our vehicles... True of false?
I know that if the engine is hot, and the WP is bad that hot air won't blow out if you turn on the heat. I get hot air that is why i'm confused.

What else could be the problem?

How would i check to see if there was coolant in my oil without draining it?

Much thanks.

Still need help!

Bump!

Also i changed the water pump and temp sending unit today, Car still goes right up to 217-220 within 5 min. Coolant is topped off and clean/new. The system had been bled. But when its running, the upper and lower radiator hoses feel empty, hot but empty...

Plz help me figure this out. im running out of ideas.

When you bleed the car does the coolant flow out really well? I wonder if there is a blockage somewhere

Jordanshedd5 Apr 17, 2011 02:26 PM

The coolant was flowing out of the bleeder valves at a good rate and ammount.

Is 215-220 considered a normal operating temp in 85 degree weather? I think i remember the temp needle used to always stay around the 195 halfway mark. Correct me if im wrong.

Will the radiator hoses only feel full/surge when squeezed if the thermostat is open or always?

Thanks.

Never mind guys. i just dropped it off at the dealer. A mod can remove this thread if they would like.

What was the issue? We'll leave it open in case someone else has this problem.
