does anyone else have a numbers matching 400 small block in there 1st or 2nd gen monte? they seem to be a pretty rare find

 

i have a 400 small block but it in a 3rd gen monte carlo ss 1988

 

I have a '70 monte carlo with a M21 four speed that has a '70 400 small block, and I love it. [8D]

 

Is is a 4-bolt main?

 

Yes mine is a four bolt main, GM only made them like three years, 1970-1972. I have three beside the one in the '70 monte, the others are two bolts with with two of them having being converted to four bolt mains, and one is still just a two bolt main. I was just wondering what it is you were trying to find out?

 

81-88 are considered 4th gens while the 78-80 are 3rd gens
And yes, 400s are nice.
