when your talking real performance stuff, it gets pretty expensive compared to other cars mainly modded like civics and stuff and even compared to the 3800 because theyre more commonly modded

your absolutly right about the civics and 3800 because their engines have been produced alot more than out base model 3400, for real performance mods just do a 3800 swap, or buy a different car. but for mild mods the 3400 is just fine for high school/ college kids, or the people that don't want to get to into modding and just want to do a few things that don't require u rip open the engine to do it in my opinion

im lookin to build the motor up to about 350 hp regardless, i enjoy the idea of having something that looks slow or should be slow from an outside apperance. a "sleeper" so to speak. an original one off, for my area. id like to build my heads up, but im clueless as to what ratio and other things that will match up. Should i just pick up a set of heads at a junk yard and start from scratch and install at later date? if someone could walk me through on wat parts would be good and how-to build decent heads. also, should i look into doing the computer stuff first? thanks streak, that first link is wat i was lookin for.

yeah, i was just talkin about like getting into real mods, and availability in general..theres like 10 parts for a civic for every one for the montes lol

cheapest route also for what you want to do may be to swap to a 3.8 supercharged and go from there, or go to 3.8 and gen V it

Beautikill.2000monte 08-16-2010 03:04 AM

idk about 3.8, they are popular. id rather have a turbo 3.4, i think ill go to junk yard get some heads and over the next six months make them nitrous and turbo capable, even if i dont add those 2 things ill still get some nice hp and tq gains.

Thanks everyOne for your time/help....: )

haha 10 civic parts for every 3400 soooo very true. but anyway i can till you right now you will barely break 300 hp with a turbo and supporting mods, sorry to break it to you, you will need to swap the motor out with a 3800 or the L67 (transmission, pcm, harness etc) even then you will find it very difficult to break that 350 mark. if your that addament about this just buy a Z28 camaro

Beautikill.2000monte 08-16-2010 06:28 PM

the problem is i had very ****ty credit, i bought the car 3 yrs ago for 8,000 with a 18% interest rate, and ive only paid it half way off, and i just did a complete gasket upgrade. so by the time i pay it off it will have to many miles to try and re sell it and id like to upgrade it to the point were it will run 300,000 miles. in the long run it cheaper then buying a new car.

if you can make it that long with performance mods added on which causes additional stress to the engine/ transmission more power to you, but you really gotta do preventative maintanance religiously. oil changes, air filter, fuel filter, brakes, tires, tranny filter/ flush, and spark plugs. not to mention if you get the L67 supercharger maintanance. you can't just expect that it will last that long also without any oil additives (power-up or lucas) or even synthetic oils and fuel additives like seafoam. sorry if i threw all this at you at once and if i burst your bubble :)
