305 heads on 350

I've heard of this being done before with decent results. I'm assuming you'd have to un-shroud the combustion chambers a bit due to the difference in bore, and the small valves in the wee-05 heads are a bit of a hinderence, but what are someopinions on this? I'm sure the compressionratio would be up near 10:1 or at least close.

cheers!
Stacey

acxtually they will bolt right on, but what ya gain in compression you lose in air flow so it isn't worht the waist of time in my opinion unless you have the 305 heads opened up with porting and bigger valves. And make sure you cc to see what heads they are. If they are a 58cc head your comp ratio might end up closer to the 13:1 range if you go from a 76cc 350 head

why exactly would you want to do this? Its a little of a mis-match, and youd be better off going with fresh 350 heads and getting them ported and polished, might cost more but youll be much happier with a properly matched set-up than one not really designed to go togeher. Been there done that, My ex just didnt want to listen till she craked her heads, then it was too late!!

I wasn't really set on doing this, I just thought it might be a cheaper way of upping the compression. After talking to a freind that runs a machine shop though, he's gonna work some "magic" he says, on the stock 350 heads for cheap for me.

if you can find a good set a 305 h.o.(l69) heads they will work great for ya because the have the 58cc combustion champer for you raised comperssion and they have a 170cc intake runner the same as any 350 of the time i would do a little p&p to them and you should be good to go
