2006 Monte Carlo LT engine interchangeability
I have a 2006 Monte Carlo LT 3.5 liter vin K. I am curious what year 3.5 liters will fit. Thanks Jeff

I am thinking a 2006-2011 3.5 liter will interchange with minor differences(like injectors etc, I noticed on the cavalier's I worked on they changed the injector plugs but the basic engine stayed the same from 98-02)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_High_Value_engine LZE[edit] The LZE 3500 was an OHV flexible fuel engine based on the 3.5 L LZ4 V6 (it can use either plain gasoline or 15% Gasoline and 85% Ethanol, E85) and includes continuously variable cam timing (fixed overlap). It has a cast iron block and aluminum heads. Bore is 99 mm (3.9 in), stroke is 76 mm (3.0 in) for a displacement of 3510 cc (214 cu in). Output is 211 hp (157 kW) at 5800 rpm and 216 lb·ft (293 N·m) at 4000 rpm. Applications: 2006–2011 Chevrolet Impala 2006–2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 2009-2010 Chevrolet Malibu 2009-2010 Pontiac G6 |
2006 3.5 engine swap to 2006-2011 3.5 engine
Has anyone swapped between models on the 3.5 engine 2006-2011. I have a 2006 monte carlo LT vin K flex fuel and found a 3.5 from a 2010 impala and trying to find out what may need to be changed to install this in my monte carlo

I will be picking up a 2011 3.5 engine with 27K today at lunch for around $500-$600 so I will let everyone know what I have to change to install it in my 2006 Monte Carlo. The guy at the salvage yard said he remembered some of them having different oil pans.

Well I am part way through the process of installing a 2011 impala 3.5 liter into my 2006 monte carlo. I found so far that there is a sensor in the oil pan on the monte carlo that was deleted on the impala. Also the plug for the sensor threaded near the oil filter was different which was probably the oil pressure. So far those are the only 2 differences I have found. So I installed the 2006 oil pan on the 2011 engine and installed the sensor from the old into the impala engine.
