2002 SS L36 to L67 Swap

Ok here is the deal, I have a 2002 monte carlo ss and need to swap the engine. The one that is in there is a L36 N/A but it is basically junk now. So my question is what is all needed to convert it so I can have a L67 engine the car. Harnesses? PCM? Mounts? And what engine should should the car out of? a GTP?
I know in 04-05 they put them in there but please help

Use an L67 out of a 98+ GTP, Regal GS, or 04-05 Monte SS. The only thing you would need is a PCM (you'll probably need a tuner to change security settings, or just get one from ZZP or something), and possibly the wiring harness. Someone who knows more about 6th gens would probably be able to tell you better than me, I only swapped an L67 into my 5th gen.

I swapped my L36 to a L67 in my 01 Monte SS. I got my engine out of a 05 Monte SS. I took the Engine, Trans, wiring harness with the PCM, BCM, and the axles. If I remember correctly, the mounts are the same.

mounts are the same, you will need the harness, tune, and probably a map sensor. the trans you have will work but just remember in the factory sc cars there trans had a HD diff and yours does not.

i never personally did this swap but from my knowledge that is what im thinking you will need....

Don't forget the gear ratio is different also turbo monte

Yes the gear ratio in a NA trans is 3.29 and in a sc trans its 2.93 I believe. But that won't matter a whole lot as long as the pcm is tuned for w.e. gears you are using.

"The Drive and Driven sprocket ratio will directly factor in to calculate the overall transmission ratio. For example most of the Supercharged 3800 powered vehicles come with a 3.29 HD differential but they have a 37/33 sprocket orientation and this will overdrive the transmission and create an overall ratio of 2.93:1 "

that was from this thread: https://montecarloforum.com/forum/en...14/#post511357

I have the L67 with the 4T65E-HD & my Stock PCM file (HP tuner) has a calculated Gear of: 3.29 (under the speedo- Gear/tire calc section)

Do you want to do the transmission too?

My suggestions
Don't do the wiring harness, do not mess with it. You can get the extension for the MAP sensor, and the connectors for the injectors separately.

PCM, you need to have it tuned.

Everything else is the same.

I would try to grab the transmission also if you are using an 04-05 Monte donor so that when you tune based off that .bin the transmission has the correct parts. They were changed in 03 ;)

You don't need a whole harness- get this instead:
