1983 SS 350 help

Hey, I am rebuilding an 1983 Monte and just swapped out the ole 305 for the 350 and I'm looking for some simple ideas to get all the power out of it I can. Open to any ideas, Thanks.

port and polish the heads mild lifters mild cam and a exellent intake manafold as well as a exellent carb or fuil carb setup depending where you want to go. my question is how high hp numbers are you wanting to go and how much you are willing to spend. i know there is a 350 creat engine with alot of hp and every thing but i dont know where you want to be sitting

heads are where the power is at. if it doesnt have vortec heads on it i wouldnt even waste my money on doing ny work to them. iron heads are extremely affordable now days. i do agree on the whole establishing a goal statement. what 350 is it? tpi, 2bl, 4bl? as long as its not injected. headers, intake, carb are always a good starting point.

The guy i bought the motor from was working on using it as a drag motor but got pored with it and sold it to me. It just has the cast iron heads, 750 edelbrock carb and the Edelbrock 2101 intake man. and he has it bored .30 over also said he added roller rockers but didn't.
Sorry i would of mentioned this stuff yesterday but didnt have much time to...i'm looking to add a Spectre Dual Cold Air Intake System after that i don't know where else to go.

Nice set of long tube headers would help get the spent gases out!

what does the intake say on it. should have a name performer, performer rpm, torquer I, torquer II, air gap? if you take off the valve covers there should be a casting numbers on the heads, but most of the factory heads are dogs, and if he lied about the roller rockers which are pretty easy to check for i would doubt that the motor was bored. i would personally not waste your money on a cold air. what carb is on it? does it have an hei distributor? if you look on the rear of the motor driver side you can get a casting number from the block. at the point that some one is lying about rockers god knows if its even a 350. heres a link to a site so you can find out exactly what you have.
http://web.archive.org/web/200805180...ww.mortec.com/ once again what are your goals for the car/motor, and whats your budget?

Hi guys, I am working on pretty much the same project but I can't figure out the 305 casting number -- it is completely smudged/erased. I have checked Mortec's casting numbers pages and related instructions on identifying the numbers, but haven't found an alternative way to identify this engine.

Any ideas?
