Engine Build: The 01 MC SS Sleeper LS4
One has to really seriously appreciate all the head scratching and time one spent to make this proj3ect actually work. You have the patience and fortitude that is evident. Congratulations with this one up build...... You have gave birth to a Monster Sleeper. I have to laugh and smile looking over your project. Can't imagine all the effort this took to dream up, bring all the parts in and then begin taking on the actual install phase. VERY WELL DONE!!! I will vote for you for Monte of the Month when you think your car is to that point of completion. Bravo!! Dare to dream and dare to try....Way to represent the Monte's on the road out there fighting the fight we fight against the STI's, Evo's, Mustangs, Chargers etc......................

Kudos on the sleeper project!
I'm sure you will take a few unsuspecting victims by surprise.
I need to ask the inevitable question though...will the V8 swap be accepted and pass your local emission test? I was going to swap a 383 stroker in place of a 4.3 V6 in a S10, but here (Washington) they would not certify it for emissions so it couldn't be registered or licensed for street use. The only exception would be a vehicle 25 or more years old because it is exempt from emission testing.

Yes it is running and the tranny seems to be fine no slippage or anything. Why do you know of any problems with this tranny?

All DTC codes are clear and there is no check engine light on
props on the work man, takes a dedicated sort to keep a car in the family, especially to do that to it ... if only i had the money and the space mine would still be around ...
LS4 Transmission Problem Count; Current Total: 140 (5/3/2011) - LS1TECH
i really do wish you the best of luck ... but it seems an almost eventuality that these transmissions will at some point fail ... probably like 50-75% of the people on LS1tech have had some problems ...
and yes this was one of the reasons i sold my car ...
but your engine only has 17k miles on it, probably way too new to have the problems yet, and if you take care of it, let her warm up properly, install a separate trans cooler now (especially in cali ) and cross your fingers, you could very well be one who avoids it ...
sorry for the double post yall ... i just had goosebumps when i saw dredds post asking if these tranny's have problems ... like when a kid asks you if santa claus is real :p

I'm still in the process of meeting with the state referee to see if he say's different. I'm pretty confident that it will pass and if not they have a special license that you can get here in Cali for vehichles with modifications. They only allow 500 to be registered per year so I'm hoping that I don't have to go that route...
Hey Chibi,
Went and seen the Smog Ref today and all pass except for the CAT (but it's my 01 CAT) so I kind of figured that I would have to change it, but other than that we are a go. According to California Smog & Emmissions Law as long as you all emmission compontents for the motor trane that you're installing and it passes the emmissions (OBDII and emmissions sniffer) then your legal and the Vin number is changed to match the Installed motor trane. Pretty cool huh
. All in all its legal and on the California Highways. Speaking of the Highways a Charger had to learn the hard way about the 01 MC LS4 Sleeper (SMOKED HIM TWICE), and today on the way back from Solano Calif a Mitsubishi learned to (SMOKED). I LOVE IT
