Wheels...correcting neglect
 

Ok..I have not been a slave to my '03 when it comes to washing...I run it thruough the car wash on nice days...but the alum wheels need some attention. I am also gonna do the wheel wells....scrub em and armorall em.

10 years of brake dust...its on there dude. (on the inside parts) I am ready to take a scotchbrite with cleanser to it...but maybe there is a presoak that will need less elbow (or finger) grease? I want my wheels to shine...cuz you cant be cool if your chrome dont shine!

so I am getting started..gotta get ready for Monte Nationals! (I am so drivin it on the fastest half mile!)

I hate the machined finish on mine. Nearly impossible to fix.

Hands weren't happy after that 1.25 hour polish on each rim :p

well Chibi ..that polish is crazy...the insets on mine are sort of a rough finish...not shiny. This creates cavities where that stuff is stuck in there...the outsides of the wheels are great...nice and shiny grain finish...but it is those cutouts...I almost wanna sand balst em.

Gotta be some soak it for a while stuff...i am gonna hit it with brake cleaner and a brass welding brush first...then hose em off and see whats left.

if these are stock wheel i would saty away from any kind of wire brush, or harch chemical, you will do more damage than good!

you have a pic of one of the rims? might give us an idea of what you are up against

I let mine soak with engine degreaser, hosed em off, more degreaser and white scotch brites, bug and tar remover and white scotch brites then soap & water, then a quality rim cleaner. Go to a car wash if possible, high pressure water and no mess at your home to worry about.

After I cleaned my wheel wells real thoroughly, I masked off about everything painted and sprayed on fresh coats of the rubberized undercoating. The wheel wells looked like new.

How did you get the red strip on the,? That I like a lot....
