Default Racing Stripes for the 07 monte

I know that some of you have used the vinyl racing stripes on the 06 and 07 montes but my question is how long do they last and are they worth the money for how ever long they last?
Thanks

Cool Depends ?

Hi `Scott,
There are a lot of factors: Climate/Garage Kept/quality of vinyl etc.
I know in the Hot Sun of Florida it can fade sooner.
I think they look awesome on a Monte Carlo.
What color is your Monte ? What color stripes are you think'in about ?

Below are some sites to check `out...Hope they `help.
Good Luck, and let us know what U `do OK

Id say get them painted on, they last way longer, but some members here have had bad luck with cheaper vinyls not coming off if they have worn down over a few years.

i have the same question about stripes for my 07 monte scottw25. from what i have heard about the vinyl stripes i would probably spend the money on getting them painted on. mine is a daily driver so i would think vinyl would wear out sooner than i would want. does anyone know about how much would it cost to get them painted on?

alot more than your are probably willing to pay for it to be done right. <<<keyword

the vinyl is close to impossible to make it look right to. they will allways have small imperfections in them like bubbles, uneven texture and so on

if you want it to be reliable and look good, it's going to cost a good deal of money.

I say it often on this site, you want something, you get what you pay for.

If you want it done right, start saving up. If you want it done now, choose your best options, but vinyl will probably look better than a cheap paint job. And try to avoid automatic car washes.

Ugh, I hate automatic car washes with a passion! They never seems to clean the car all the way! My stripes are vinyl and it costed me 321.00 for everything. I got different quotes on paint but the lowest I got was near 850.00 and that's just too much to pay for stripes. I keep a car cover on my car that way no direct sunlight hits mine (other than when I'm driving). I would say go with the vinyl because it's cheaper and If later on down the road you don't decide you want them anymore you could always remove them and know that you didn't spend hundreds of dollars on the paint. Thats just my opinion though.

hey thanks everyone for your input. i figured getting them painted would cost a bundle. i will consider the vinyl but i'm still skeptical. I won't be as worried when i get a garage (cuz i will probably be buying a house this summer) but my car will still sit outside every day for ~8-10hrs/day when i'm at work. in the middle of summer, good ol MN will get pretty hot, so we will see.

The color of my car is lazer blue and i was thinking about silver stripes. I don't know if i am set on stripes or not yet though. If i can find a decal the will look good on the side i would go with it but i know if anything will look good because of the cars natural curves. I really don't want to do a pinstripe on the curves because that is what everyone does.

I'd say check local graphics or sign shops that work with vinyl, I got quotes from $100 installed (what I went with) up to $650 installed but only in flat black (he called it half job so half price of whatever he normally charges because I didn't do roof or bumpers)

Paint will be what I go with in the future. I do like the vinyls better than nothing, but they don't compare to paint when up close.
