new paint job on my 86 montee ss how long should i wait to polish and wax her
hey guys got a question.
my 86 ss is in the body shop getting alot of love. thank god for a good neighbor who owns a body shop and is relly taking care of me. most of the car is getting repainted. all except the hood and the trunk lid which are near new. he sent me somwe pictures of the work in which the car looks wet sanded. it wasnt taking down to bear metal. the car is being painted today and then the new stripes go on. my question is ounce i get it back when am i able to polish and give a good coat of wax. am i aloud to wash it regulary right afterwards which is ounce a week and spray the quick detailnig spray by mequiars? thanks ahain |

Most of the paints today are a base cost, clear coat, type paint. |
A popular answer is no waxes or chemicals (just water, maybe soap for washing) for 30 days.
But, verify with the guy shooting the paint. |
I would wait 30-60 days to make sure that the paint is totally cured.

I would wait 3 months - if it's warm and the car is in the sun a lot time can be reduced a little

my buddy who has been in auto body repair, and refinishing re shot my tahoe last year. said just water and soap for the first 3 months. after 3 months its safe to use wax, polish and what you want to use on it
