Learn to detail

For all the detailers on here how did you learn. I've been thinking about it for a while. I'm real OCD about how my car looks. I was thinking on learning

Tweek:
Its my experience, it was trial and error for me.. as was for most on here...
However,
There are some really good and informative vids on you tube!
I wish that I saw the vids before I tried to just "Wing it".

I did luck up though...
My step son worked for an auto detailing shop for a while and finally straightened out my paint... It took a few times to get it where it is now as it had many years of daily driving on the paint, sun, salt, acid rain etc...

My fear is...
There maynot be much clear cote left on it now..:rotfl:

Keep us posted...
How about maybe doing a before and after? Once you get yours done?

Heres some info that may help posted by one of members!
Great Info!

I might just have my paint guy teach me since he details as well. I have an amazing detail guy but I like doing the work myself

I learned from my dad. He has been doing it for 30+ years as his full time job. So naturally I ended up working at his shop as a teenager. I still to this day work there and have been for about 13 years.

My dad... I used to help him was his Twin Pines Milk truck, and he had an old Buick (58 Special) he kept spotless.
But I learn everyday something new from here, Google, car friends and going to car shows.

Most of the time guys will pick up the detailing from Dad. :congrats:
My father loved his Buicks and kept them clean. :)
One thing he always worked on was the White Wall tires. He used a product called Wesley's Tire Cleaner and it worked wonders. If you had dingy white walls this will get it clean.
I enjoy going to Car shows and usually the tire and wheel areas are neglected.
I clean the Tires and the Wheels then I also do the exterior inside fender wells, if you spray tire foam in there it cleans it right up. Good subject.
