Info on Xzylon protectant
Last week when I purchased my 2006 LT; the dealer mentioned a product called Xzylon. I have read other car forums about this product and the majority of the comments has a negative tone concerning Xzylon. I looked over the warranty and it did not say anywhere on it that Xzylon had to be reapplied every year to stay within the warranty guidelines. I am not neither pro or against the product, just stating what I read. I am thinking about getting the Xylon but would like some other input first. Like I said Im neither for nor against it...just curious. Thanks for any input!

Hi Mike, & Welcome to the MCF
I've never heard about this product, but I've learned it does
pay to do your homework. I use Eagle One on my
cars, & it works super for me.
Be patience, & I'm sure our MCF Member's
will post their thoughts/knowledge on this subject.
Wish you good luck with your 06 LT.

I'm with Space here in saying that I've never heard of it. I take that it's some sort of protectant? Only thing I've used on my car so far has been that cheap spray on wax at the car wash. First nice weekend this spring and it's getting claybarred along with a nice coat of real wax.
Welcome to MCF Mike.
X3 on this one. Chevy doesn't offer this as a base protectant on the vehicle. This is something the dealer has added and just wants you to come back every year to have it reapplied and make some extra revenue.

Just had it applied to new car. On the way home from dealer I ran through new white road marking paint. I took soft towel and with no effort wiped it off. Again, I just got it and it worked as advertised where paint won't stick to it. We'll have to wait and see if 5 years from now it still works that way. So far so good.
Its actually a product used on jet aircraft. What it does is it bonds to the paint surfaces to reduce drag. It is sold at dealerships for use on cars. This stuff is good on just about anything really. It bonds to the surface you put it on and forms a protective coating. They probablly don't even know what it is really intended for at the dealership. The stuff works really good on black cars cause the bug guts and tar from the road wont stick on to the paint, it sticks to the Xzylon treated surface which is slick and smooth and it isn't porous. Think of it as a clear coat sealant. The stuff is not cheap but can sometimes be found on ebay. I use it on my CBR F4i (it's black) and all I have to do is hose it down and water beads off like it was waxed, but the bike is plastic and I've never used wax on it, just treated it once with Xzylon, it takes a while to cure and must kept at a certain temperature range for it to set up right, the directions are on the can.
it's spelled Xzilon.....no y.......http://www.xzilon.com/
