How important is Terry Cloth?

So I have this Swirl-X remover I want to apply to my car, get rid of all those swirl scratches. On the directions it says to use a 100% terry cotton cloth, then a 100% cotton cloth to dry/buff it. How important is it that I use the recommended materials? Right now I have several cotton/polyester washing and detailing car rags, they're in good condition and of good quality, but I don't have the terry cloth.

Its really hard to get swirls out by hand, and terry colths arent important. If u look on the back of just about any product there trying to sell you there products. Like Meguires for example some will say use a Meguries High shine microfiber towl to buff off. The meguries high shine microfiber isnt real but u get the idea.

If you truly want to get the swrils out, i would take it to a dealer and get it buffed out. Other wise you would need a high speed buffer with a cutting/polishing wool pad. Then use Meguires Ulitmate Compound, and follow that with Meguires Nxt gen 2.0 wax.

Space is right about microfibers tho they are amazing and work really well on paint.

Things you should now about Microfibers
if you drop it toss it aside - Microfibers like to grab things like sticks and twigs that cound scratch the paint
when removeing wax use a wax on wax off method.
keep turning the rag

If done right it begins to look like this.
