How to cover up dents, scratches or any other problems

I ask anybody who has ever had any noticable spots on their cars that they wanted to cover up, post your secrets for fixing car dents, scratches, windshield cracks or any other little or big problems.

I have a dent on my driver side door and I boughta stripe kit from pep boys that goes at the bottom of my door and it works great, it covers the dent and adds even more better looks. Best 15 dollars I ever spent.

When I had a winshield crack and I didn't wan't it to be noticable at a car show I took my look but don't touch sign for my car and put over the little crack.

Post your examples and solutions

well im a college student and that means that some of the people who park there have nooooo clue how to park and have no respect for others cars...so i saw some chick slam her door into my rear fender [sm=chairshot.gif]and i ran over, but she looked at my car and got into hers and took off [sm=headbang.gif]i went over and it wasnt that bad but still just the fact. so my friend does a lot of body work and so he was able to take care of the dent and the scratch...now i park my car in the furthest lot and near the other peoples cars who love theirs. (i park next to another mc and a hot chick drives it [sm=Awwww.gif]) so thats my story i think he sanded it a bit and i got some touch up paint, and then he took real good care of it. i wasnt there when he did it so im not sure. he just said that it was alset haha

Small dings:
Use that red body putty and fill the hole higher than needed, but limit coverage not to overfill to much.
Sand maintaining little overlap with 400-600 grit until it blends by feel.
4 oz duplicolor to cover it.
Clear it.
800 grit to get a start blend to stock paint height.
1500 once you get close then use like a scratch X swirl remover and alot of elbow grease to bring back shine.

Scratches, Duplicolor pen tipped bottles. This contains a paint clear mix.
Fill the scratch etc, again multiple layers if needed to make new paint higher than old.
800 to get it close
1500 to fine detail it
Scratch X again.

You'll be hard pressed to find minor fills even with no paint ever completely matching.

DO NOT sand more area than needed to fix a spot.
This just created alot more work than needed and your fingers will hate you, plus your thinning the surround paint and clear.
If you happen to do this, don't be afraid to use a duplicolor clear spray to correct a larger area and 1500-2000 sand it and scratch x it.
