hood problem

I have my primary hood with a problem. A while ago I put on a bow tie. Ran it a day and hated it on. Took it of but left residue that will flat out not come off. Goo gone. Paint thinner. Mineral spirits. Decale remover 3 different kinds. Rubbing compound. Both new and old school. No luck. any other suggestions? Oh I also tryed heat.

The residue is glue and paper like substance.

what did you use to put the bowtie on?? should have just used double sided tape.. if all of that didnt help.. your probably SOL and will have to sand it off then repaint it

you need to find a good solvent to eat that glue. i cant really tell you anything that is easily accessible because i buy from a chemical distributor. I havent ever had much luck with stuff off the shelves

As last resort I would have suggest paint thinner, but you already tried that. :(

Very very fine sanding paper in the areas?

how comfortable are you with wet-sanding?

WD-40 followed by isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol then polish and wax. ;)

Wet sanding and buffing will take it off.

When I re-did my 80 Z-28, I went to the paint store and got some decal remover. It would be better quality than something from say Autozone or a common store. It worked well to eat the old glue off from the stripe package. Good luck. I am sure something will get it off. Have you tried a heat gun them Aclohol or Wd-40?
