Glass cleaning question

So I had heard that you can use 0000 steel wool to get all the bugs and other crap off your windows to basically make them extreamly smooth and clean. Does anyone by chance know if this really works or would this scratch my windows all to hell?

When I have had bugs etc that are dried on stuck...

I used tide laundry detergent, with a dash of bleach to get it back to crystal clear and removes all the bugs remains...etc....:thumbsup:

Then dried it useing plain old news papers...scratch free and crystal clear results! (for outside use only)

Just becareful to not get it on the paint....:)

For non tinted windows on the inside ....use windex and newspaper to wipe it clean and dry....

I may stray away from the steel whool lol. Looks like there are a lot of people who have had good success with it and a lot of people who have had bad problems with it.

I actually just read about using news papers to clean windows, it's really good to stop streaks :).

ONLY use 0000 steel wool WITH window cleaner or some other liquid lubricant so it wont scratch. I clean my windows this way a lot in the summer.

I'll never use windex on tint

I also use invisable glass spray when cleaning the widows so the Deuce's windows never get that bad I sorta soak them off.

I use clay bar on Sally (my 04 Monte ss) caus she is my daily driver and gets buggie.

Steel wool, although I never tried it, seams harsh

A good cleaning with a non-abrasive rubbing compound followed by a coat of wax (exterior side and rear window only) works quite well also. Windshield gets the rubbing compound treatment followed by a quick wipe with Stoner Invisible Glass Cleaner. All inside glass gets cleaned with Invisible Glass also.
