Black stuff on steering wheel and shifter???
I have a red pace car with the red steering wheel and shifter... there is "black gunk" on both and I cannot find a product that will take the black off and not hurt the red wrapped leather. any suggestions would be well appreciated!
Thanks guys! |
I found just simple soap and water to remove that crud in the past. Then just recondition the leather after wards.

Yea, I would try soap and water, and if its really on there, get a very soft brush, and scrub it a little. Then as JJ said, after it drys condition the leather with a good quality leather conditioner.

There is a product I've used on various surfaces called Goo Gone. I've never used it on leather though.

ok i have lots of experience here and yall would never think of it. First use ur finger nail and make sure it can come off then use a magic eraser with a little bit of carpet cleaner...dont press hard but just enough.

Whatever you use for the leather, just make sure it's diluted a little bit, then wash it with some mild soap after to make sure all the bad chemicals are gone, then get that leather treatment on it RIGHT away to keep it protected.
Just be careful what you use, because it could be slippery, and you don't want your steering wheel to be slippery lol |
Yeah... I cleaned my steering wheel with mild dishwashing detergent and water.
Now I can't get a grip on it! i guess the "gunk" was kinda like "pine tar" is to a baseball bat! Maybe I should of left it on !! ? |
if you want it off theres a cleaner called tough stuff u can get it at like walmart or an autopars store but it will get it off with some scrubing and its not bad for leather i use it all the time
