Default Best method to restore Headlamps

So last year I bought a headlight restoration kit and after few hours they looked new. 2 years later they look blah!
I do not want to replace them ....OEM's are like $150 - 200 ea. Best after markets don't fit perfect.
Any Ideas?

Clean them up again and then give them a coat of future floor wax its like a clear coat. Then I would put headlight covers on the car they make a smoke and a clear version.
