Avoid swirls/micromarring?
 

I have a hard time avoiding swirls and micromaring from either polishing with the polisher or wiping it off. I am not sure what techniques I am doing wrong. I need your info and experience.

Don't use rough terry towels, they can add to the scratches. Compounding and polishing does leave micro fine scratches, A couple buffs with a good quality polish should help remove it. It takes alot of work. Also, change your buffer pads/applicators for new ones. Always use soft microfibers. Never use anything coarse.

Clay before you do any compounding/polishing. If you don't you are just grinding in that oxidation.

I do clay before any compounding etc. What type of microfiber should I use? I have been just using the detailing microfiber from walmart with the long fibers on one side. I clay, compound, swirl remover, polish or glaze and than sealant and carnuba wax.

Those towels you normally see in the multiple packs are good for pretty much anything, I do reccomend get some spa towels for removal of the final wax. Those are the ultra plush ones. Try spending more time in one area with polish, rub it until it begins to haze, remove it and apply again until majority of the swirls dissapear. For the final step rub the wax in real well with a soft applicator. Synthetic waxes are good for soaking into the scratches/swirls better than carnuba waxes. What products are you using?

Also what product/ pads combo are you using? How oftern do you clean your towels and pads, what are you using to clean them, how many section passes are you making what speed are you working with,

I have come to the realization that the cheap walmart/costco/samsclub ect towels are good for general cleaning but when it come to paint you want quality, must have silk boarder becuase your likly to cause marring with the stitching i bought a bunch of high quality ones a month or so back on buy one get one at autogeek, since have discovered microfibertech which prices are good,

Blue white(not picture other than what they are sitting on i use for dirty nasty greasy cleaning jobs
Orange, green, yellow are a mix of wally world, parts store and costco towles i use these mainly for general cleaning,
Light green with silk border are waffle weave drying towels, blue and yellow glass waffleweave towels, microfiber gloves,
Blue silk boredered i use for compound and polish removal, blue borderless i use for lsp(wax/sealant) removal, white with black silk border i use for rinseless washes

I use ccs lake pads. Orange pad with meguiars compound, orange pad with meguiars swirl remover 2.0, than I think white pad with nufinish polish or meguiars car show glaze, black pad with meguiars sealant 2.0 than red pad with ibiz carnuba wax. compound is 6, swirl is 5, polish/glaze is 4 and sealant/wax is 2 or 3

What megs compound? There is many different ones, swirl remover is more of a polish in it's self,

This is a 50/50 shot of this past weekends work,
Not really swirls, but this was washed, clayed, washed, orange pad with Megs ultimate Compound white pad with ultimate polish and a dab of ultimate compound as this thing had very hard paint
