Great tips! The only thing I can add is rather than a sponge use a microfiber wash mitt. A sponge will retain dirt particles easier which means you run a greater chance of scratching the finish while washing it. Also, use two buckets - one with your soap mixture and one to rinse your microfiber mitt in. After scrubbing an area of the vehicle rinse the mitt before dripping it back into the soap solution. That way the dirt removed from the surface doesn't get mixed back into your soap and you reduce the chances of scratching the finish as you're washing it. ;)

Thanks `Mike, for adding your Super Tips...That's the way I did it with my Monte's and on rides that are in great condition. I don't on my company truck, but it has dings/and hail damage :(

I hope other member's post their tips on detailing :thumbsup::confused:

I like to use 3 mitts. 1 for the car, 1 for the wheel wells and 1 for the rims. I like the 2 bucket idea I may do it when its really dirty.

Add a grit guard to the bottom of the bucket (any 5 gal pail) and you then scrape any particles off into the rinse bucket. The 2 bucket and multiple MIT approach will keep many of the swirls off.
