1986 MONTE Carlo SS Aerocoupe. In order for NASCAR to be allowed to run the Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupes on the circuit, they had to be available to the public. 200, 1986 Aerocoupes left the assembly line as standard Monte Carlo (notchback) SSÂs, and were sent to an outside vendor (Cars & Concepts, Inc. Brighton, MI) for the hand building of the Aerocoupe modification. By adding the rear window glass provided a 2.7 percent reduction in drag coefficient.
Worth about 5 mph on the track.
To date, there are only 94 known Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupes in existence. All but 3 are east of Illinois.
