Default Remove/Installing of Rear Struts

Does anyone know the step by step instructions on how to remove and install new rear struts for a 2000 Monte Carlo SS? Also, do I need to get a new sway bar with the two new struts I have to purchase? The garage guys said that they tend to break when they take off the old strut. I appreciate any help I can get! I'm trying to do the cheaper route since I don't have that much money to spend! (It will cost $780 @ the garage)

the sway bars dont break but the links tend to , Moog sells upgraded ones with grease fittings for about $50 a pair part #k6662 just picked up a pair today, as far as step by step procedure if you dont have a strut spring compressor don't even attempt it, someone WILL get hurt, unless you buy completely assembled units including the spring its just 3 bolts at the top in the trunk, 2 bolts on the rear caliper mount (just to get it out of the way) and 2 bolts at the bottom and one bolt on the above mentioned sway bar link

I just got it all done! Thanks again! I replaced the strut...there was still a noise going on...I read a few forums and figured out it was the strut mount! I got one and no more annoying noises! Thanks again!

sorry, i should have mentioned that if your going to change the strut always change the mount
since your already in there and it's "cheap", not so much on a monte, insurance
