bolt patern from corvette, malibu, monte, elcomino, firebird, camaro, are all 5x4.75 the c4 rims will work but you will more than likly need spacers for the rear so it will not rub

i dont think a setup like that would work. i think all of the vettes ran real deep backspacing and depending on how fat of a tire you want to run your probably going to rub on the inside near the frame. i dont know what kinda diameter your looking to run but on a 15x8" rim the widest ive fit without rubbing was 275/60/15s with 3.75 or 4in backspacing either will work. your lookin at 28in tall overall diameter and about 11in wide at the buldge. if you stay within those dimensions and keep the backspacing in the 3.75 to 4in range u should be able to fit a ton of wheel tire combos.

I was hoping to run 275/50/15's but from your experience it sounds like that will hit. I wanted to have some serious meat, but I can simply use a set of slicks at track...

Glad to have read you post probably saved me some real grief. The slicks I have are I think 8" wide and 26" tall so I think they will fit with no problems.

Thanks

ive tried 275 50 but that was on a 8.5 with 3.5 backspacing. it was a hoosier quicktime tire and it rubbed if i had weight in the rear. i trimmed the rear wells and they would still rub on the quarters but that car had a sloppy spring and shock set up. if it would have had 8" wheels on it it would have fit. heres the pick of the car with the old wheels they were 15x8 with 3.75 with 275/60/15. the new set up has 3.50 neither rub i perfer the 3.75 just think it makes the wheel look fatter. i like running the 28" tire cause with the 3.73s and the 700 first gear and the torque of the 406 its tough to get off the line so a little bit of tire helps kill the gearing a little. and when i had the 350 trans with no motor work it was a nightmare with a short tire.
