Space, where'd you find those old Monte Carlo ads? I love looking at old car ads.

Not sure if this is what you had in mind when you said to share our Monte vids, but I like these 2 clips I found on YouTube that feature the Monte Carlo:

Vintage Chevy commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFTru...e=channel_page

clip from "Training Day": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InPoP...e=channel_page

I was hoping that Bob Lutz was going to use the Pontiac G8/Monaro platform for
a new Monte Carlo SS...

Fun to think about - even though it won't happen now...

Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS

The 'SS' in Monte Carlo stands for Super Sport. The vehicle was introduced in 1970 for the Monte Carlo 's first generation but was immediately phased out after 1971. It was again revived for the vehicle model's fourth generation from 1983 through 1988, and on 2000 to present.

With unique features and high performance Chevrolet parts , the Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS performed exceptionally well. Among the significant characteristics of the Super Sport are its aerodynamic front end, spoiler on trunk lid, blacked out trim, high output 305ci L69 engine, sport suspension, variable ratio steering gear box, TH-350C 3-speed transmission for years '83-'84, TH-200-4R 4-speed transmission with overdrive for years '85-'88, high flow Corvette catalytic converter, dual muffler and exit exhaust with exits below rear bummer, special Monte Carlo SS specific striping and decals. The Monte Carlo SS is also the last full frame, rear wheel drive car made by GM that is equipped with a carbureted V8 engine.

SS' transmissions started from a 3-speed non-overdrive in 1983, and on 1985 until 1988, it had a 4-speed overdrive transmission. And the Chevy Monte Carlos from 1995 up to the present model year has a 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission.

With so many bargain models and SUVs on the road today, sophisticated driving is hard to find. That is unless you're looking at the new 2006 2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Harnessed by a four-wheel fully independent suspension, the Monte Carlo features a racetrack-inspired aerodynamic shape, providing a stability that Chevy experts talk about in every Monte Carlo review. A stunning fusion of fire and finesse, the Monte Carlo comes in four models.

No other nameplate has won more NASCAR Winston Cup races and championships than the Chevy Monte Carlo. The V6 engines feature chrome-silicon valve springs that stand up to high engine stress and speeds. The 3400 V-6 engine offers best-in-class V6 EPA highway fuel economy, and generates 180 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 205 pounds-per-foot of torque at 4000 rpm. The 3800 V-6 engine cranks out 200 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 225 pounds-per-foot of torque at 4000 rpm. On top of all of this, Monte Carlo performance is enhanced by other features, including a strut tower-to-tower steel brace that enhances the car's precise driving response, and Electronic Traction Control, which helps maintain traction by reducing wheel spin on most slippery surfaces.
As you'll read in every Monte Carlo review, this car looks great, too. On the outside, a low sloping hood, a raised rear deck and liquid lines evoke passion and a true excitement. The car boasts 16-inch wheels and tires, heated outside mirrors, foglamps, and an optional electric sunroof.
