Cool Some new upgrades for the Interior

Last May I was able to liberate and nice leather interior for my Monte and have been able to work a little on it on occasion.

Back in October of 2015 I had to stay off work for awhile got me a DVT and it was difficult to do much of anything with out some pain.

So things got better in January and I went back to work.

But I got a chance to work on the interior some during this time. So I think I have some photo's to share.

I will start with Doors first.

When I got this Car I had already owned a Monte, before that and it was my sons car in High School. One a 96 Red and mine a 99 Black which I purchased in late 2000 with about 27K.
I was a sales rep at that time and the other ride was at it's limit on miles.

For those who may wonder why I have the handle driver number 3 I have included a comparison photo of the real Dale and my self the 3 on the bottom are of me.

So the before photo shows a Tan interior and I am converting it to the Graphite leather interior.

I was talking with an upholstery guy and we took a Leather jacket and created a new look on the door kick panel. then I took the door panels and replace them with the Graphite units. I was never fond of the Burl wood panels in the car so I cover them with a Carbon fiber wrap and you can see that detail in the pics.

Smile More interior pics.

Now here are some Interior pics. and the door panel off the door not to complicated underneath.

For those of you who would upgrade the stereo system at this time also. For me I makes no difference as I suffer from tinnitus (ringing of the ears) it is a disability from shooting big guns and riding in Chinook helicopters.

That lower panel is kind of a formed wooded panel I had to cut the Carpet in several places and remove it. Which really wasn't to difficult.

Smile Carbon Fiber wrap

Here are the Trim panels that were a Walnut look and now Carbon Fiber wrap I was pleased on how well they turned out, Heat gun and patience are the key to making them work.

The one concern I did have is the remote switch for the Mirror but after careful removal and examination I was able to make it work.

Thank you
I was really pleased with it too.
I had to replace the door plates, and I found 2 sets at the U-pull it yard. mine had cracks in them and the wrap was old and was letting go. I came up with the Idea of the leather jacket to be used for the scuff area. I hope it will be a cool conversation piece at a Car show in the future.
I may do the inside door handles too. The key to making this work is the heat gun.

Nice work! It looks great! I noticed you have some checkered print material in the front seat, and your arm rest is done too......you got any more plans for it?

The Checked material is a table cloth that I use when I go to a Car show or event I cover the table top I bring along and display some items on it.

Actually I want to replace the Carpet in the car with new.
The other interior moldings need to be replaced just haven't had the time. I have 2 back seats they were both great so I got them at 2 different times. One came from a 96 and the other a 98 which I got later and the 96 fit different than the original 99.
I plan to repair the console lid I have a couple of them and need to remake the hinge but out of Aluminum.
I also want to redo the Sun visors in the carbon material or I also have another leather jacket I might use also. The sleeves are almost perfect to cover the visors.
I also have an idea for the sill plates I just need to try and test the idea.
It involves Polishing the piece to a Chrome like finish not sure if that will work with the material I have. But will try.

And it would not be complete if I didn't do the upper trunk lid somehow. I have an idea to redo the interior of the Trunk as I now have a full size tire and wheel mounted on the same wheel as what is on the car.

Looks great! Not a fan of the carpet on the lower door so thinking of doing something with that also - leather looks great! Carbon fiber wrap turned out well too, may go pull some from the yard to try the wrap on and use them if I get it right. Thanks for sharing!

Storms down here made the crews call off work.... so back to the scrap yard! Picked up the door and dash "wood" trim pieces and just finished with the carbon fiber wrap, can't wait to see them on the car the weekend. Great idea #3!

Nice job on the wrap.
I just didn't appreciate the burled wood look.
On the Dash piece I didn't put the Monte Carlo back on.
I have a Team Monte Carlo hat pin on it.
I had a nice red bowtie emblem just the right size and some how it has gotten lost. But I work away from home for several months at a time. I was home for a bit last year with a bit of a health issue. I am trying to fix some stuff around the house and on the cars and I searched for several days for the tools. Should have been here but it was there instead.
I think the old lady hides them while I am gone.
Kinda like I was missing a 7 Ball from the snooker set on the Pool table and I am thinking that my Grandkids got it.
But I got shut down by the Old lady and my Daughter.
So I said the only other explanation would be we have had a guest then. That freaked em out?
I have used the Carbon Fiber on some of the Panels on the Pool table to giving it a tough look now.
