Default Drag Racing Question

I was at the track recently and noticed that a couple of times when I launched, my tires spun and I couldn't get traction for a second and it lowered my ET. So, would lowering my tire pressure allow me to be able to launch at higher rpms without spinning? I am just running street tires.

Hi Member `JCR,

What size street tires are on your Monte ?
What pressure do you have in them when you run ?
Oh, what were your speeds/times ?

I never raced my Monte's @ the track, but did race my
Vtec Honda, but had drag radials.

I'm sure our Member's will post the psi that they have when
they take it 2 the Track....Keep us updated on your Races.

I ran my car at the 1/4 mile track and i too am running street tires 235/55r17 with 28 psi launched at 2,000rpm and had tire spin ran a 15.01 at 93mph. Only have u-bend delete, thrush mufflers and 8.5mm wires with mds coils. I spinned the tires every time and im thinking the only remedy is slicks but im not gonna go that far

hey guys i race with my dad, and we use 10.5"x29.5" slicks...we run either 10 or 11 lbs air pressure when racing, now i know they arent street tires, but supercharged ss' tires cant be at 28 lbs and expect to hook...so try lowering your tires to about 15-20 lbs...its like a balloon, the less air, the more surface area of the tire will cover track, or the other way, where too much air is like having a rounded tire, where only the center of the tire will touch the floor...anyway, good luck!
