1977 427, times ive ran
my 77 monte with the following mods, bumpers gutted, fiberglass hood, A/C gone, heater core gone, horns gone, power steering gone, alu wheels, 4.11 gears with Hoosier 26X9 slicks on it, TH350 anddddddd, and alu headed 427 big block with 11.25 compression, the largest roller hyd cam comp makes, weiand stealth intake holley 750, electric fuel pump, still running a clutch type fan, 3000 stall, MDS ignition system. the best ive done is 7 flat in the 1/8th at 90 and a 12 flat at 110 in the 1/4 running out of gear at the 1k foot mark, not to shabby for a 3800lb car!

I knocked a consistent .003 seconds off my time when I was running my Vega wagon (sbc 383) by making a cool can for the fuel. All you need is an old coffee can, some copper tubing, a some brass compression fittings, a couple of grommets, a piece of metal flashing (mounting bracket) and a drain plug fitting. It's an inexpensive 'trick' that isn't difficult to make and will squeeze just a bit more out of that 427.
