1971 350/270hp & TH350
I am not a regular member here, I do belong to several other forums such as Firstgens.com and nastyz28.com as I am a Camaro owner. The reason I am posting here is I came across and original 1971 Monte Carlo 350/350 motor and trans and thought there may be a MC owner here looking for a date correct motor/trans for his restoration project.
Both came out of a 71 Monte that that my BIL was going to do as project with his son. The car was really a basket case and full of rust that he bought like 5 years ago but it did run pretty decent. Needless to say the project died, he pulled the motor and trans 3 years ago, scrapped the car and decided it was time to for the motor/trans go and that is how I wound up with it. After decoding the block and heads it is the original motor from the car. It decodes out to................
Engine:
11K207013 V0504CJD
1971 - 350 2-bolt 270hp 4bbl
Built in St. Catherines ONT
Was used in A-body (Chevelle, Monte Carlo), F-body (Camaro) and X-body (Nova)
Heads:
3973487 75cc Chamber 350 Chevy 1.94/1.50 valves
Date codes D 29 1 (Apr 29 1971) & H 1 1 (Aug 1 1971)
These were also used on 350/330hp motors also according to Mortec.com.
Motor was running good when it was pulled by the BIL but honestly I can say how well it did run. Turns free, he says it was clean the inside but I have not pulled the pan down myself yet.
Asking $150 OBO for the motor, local pickup only!
I also have the TH350 from the same car that looks to be fine but has not been opened. Would no doubt make an excellent core for a stock or performance buildup. I would need to pull codes on the trans to be sure it is period correct.
$175 OBO for the trans, local pickup only.
