Default New Jersey SEAT BELT LAW

Anyone living in the Northeast part of the U.S.has probably heard of the car crash that seriously injured NJ governor Jon Corzine last Friday. He was riding in a Chevrolet Tahoe that was being driven by a NJ state trooper and they crashed on the Garden State Parkway near Atlantic City.

He suffered a major leg injury(bones protruding through the skin),12 broken ribs, and a fractured vertabrae to name a few.It was determined he WAS NOT wearing a seatbelt.NJ has a seat belt law and even sets up checkpoints to catch motorists in violation of the law.

It also came out today on the news that the vehicle was going 91 MPH at the time of the crash.

Do you think he will get a ticket?

Do you think he deserves one?

Can you go 91 MPH and not worry about getting caught?

Does this set a good example for other drivers?????

REMEMBER TO BUCKLE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Do as I say, not as I do"Do you think he will get a ticket? No, but he should. No one should be above the law..91 MPH and there wasn't a State Emergency.

Do you think he deserves one?Yes, both the driver & the Gov

Can you go 91 MPH and not worry about getting caught? No, I'm paying the price for speeding now : ( ~ why should they escape the penalities ?

Does this set a good example for other drivers????? No, but again
it shows the abuse of power & that power can corrupt. They are suppose to be our Public Servants, that are paid by thetaxpayer's..... I think they should pay for their mistakesand set a good example, not a bad one.Keep us posted on the results.Interesting post. Thanks,`Space

Just a quick update on the NJ Governor's accident. There have been news reports that the State Trooper who was driving the car 91MPH received a text message from another Trooper minutes before the crash.Apparently the Trooper driving the Governor was having an affair with the other Trooper's wife.(using a cell phone while driving is ILLEGAL in NJ).
Also,a local Judge is reportedly reviewing the case and is deciding whether or not to issue a ticket to the Governor for violating the state seat belt law.

On a more positive note,Governor Corzine is beginning to walk again with help, and he received a phone call from President Bush yesterday wishing him a speedy recovery.

The story was on Fox News Channel this morning. It appears that no legal action will be taken against the trooper and the Govenor.

That is total BS. Just serves as a good example. I'd use that one in court!!! These 2 were found not guilty and I shouldn't be either.

I saw on thr news this weekend that the Governor is going back to work Monday 5/7/07.He was released from the hospital last week. There were news reports that the car driving him home was clocked at 75MPH in a 55 MPH zoneand did not have any emergency lights flashing. There was a meeting with the State Police at the Governor's mansion after he returned home and he voluntarily paid the $46 fine for not wearing a seat belt in the crash.

They said the Governor's motorcade procedures are under review following the crash.Maybe they should have reviewed them BEFORE the trip home from the hospital.
