Carfax

RE: Carfax
Carfax isn't perfect. I purchased a GM Certified used Pontiac GPGTP back in 2003. The dealer told me that is couldn't be GM Certified unless it has never been in an accident. So I didn't feel the need to do carfax. Last year when I tried to trade in my GTP for a Monte Carlo, the dealer pulled a carfax on my car before making the deal with me. He came to me and threw the carfax report on the table infront of me and said can you explain that! I was scared because I've had a few accidents in the car and had it in the body shop 4 or more times (hail damage, vandalism, break-ins, 1 minor accident and one major car accident.) I though he was going to question me about those things but he didn't. He had some info that said my GTP was in 3 accidents a whole year before I even owned the car. His carfax report had no information about the several times I've damaged the car and had body work done. Ifthe guywhoowned my GTP before me woudn't havehad an accident they would have thought they were getting a perfect car.

Hi Enzo,
Carfax is just another aid in the purchasing of a used vehicle,
but unfortunately it is not fool-proof : (
If a car was in a accident, and not reported to the insurance company/police, etc., it could have been repaired by a shop that does not
report the repairs. Or, the owner may have repaired the
damage to their vehicle themselves : (.
Another thing I have learned that `if a car is damaged @ the
factory it also can be repaired and repainted there, and
the new purchaser will not know : (
Enzo, Good Luck &I hope the repaint on your
Monte was done well.
