Yeah I'm goin to pass up the offer, I thought that was pretty steep for the milelage. I thought the same thing, that guy must have rode the hell out of it. I cant find a Monte Carlo in that price range in my area. Suprisingly there are few MC for sell in the NE Tenn and SW Va area that are reasonably priced. Im goin out today to look at some vehicles, I just had my heart set on that Monte Carlo, I've always wanted one since my stepdad had a 89 MC SS. I'll let you guys know how my search ends up. Thank yall.

yes i think youve made a good decision to pass up that one so keep looking and youll find one in the range and a better mileage....look in the trunk at the strut towers to make sure its not cracked and rusted that is a costly repair...also look at what color the anti freeze is if it orange or a brownish color look forward to tearing the whole upper and lower intake manifold off and doing lower intake gaskets and upper ....also take the part off where the oil is put in should be quater turn make sure to take the down spout and cap off as one then remove engine cover and look for oil on top of motor and wet side to let you know if gaskets are bad ....if you can also jack up front end and shake tire from top to bottm to see if wheel bearings are bad....if the engine light is on it probably going to be a few sensors gone bad not really a big a big deal....if the tranny shifts funny then its probably a shift silonode...that one is hard to do it without a lift just a couple of pointers if anyone else wants to add something i misted.....anything over 10,000 a year is alot in my book.....i have a 1992 chevy 4x4and it just broke 200,000 so 20 years old thats 10,000 a yeaR..THATS JUST WHAT I SHOOT FOR WHEN BUYING A CAR ...GOOD LUCK ON FINDING A CAR THAT HAS ALREADY HAD THOSE INTAKES REPLACED....mine lasted 140,000on my monte but was never driven hard either...

Well people I got a car, unfortunately it wasnt a Monte Carlo. I had to settle for a 2004 Dodge Stratus SXT for $4,000. It had 103,000 miles on it and is in very excellent shape. It broke my heart not getting the MC, but I had to get a ride since I was without a vehicle and me and My wife work. Hopefully in the next year or so I will get in a better financial position so i can get one. Thanks for the help and advice yall have offered, I will stick around this forum and will talk to yall again.

Welcome to the MCF. You made a wise choice. Get the transmission serviced in the Stratus and the timing belt and you should do ok.

I've noticed that the timing belt is a issue with the Dodge Stratus, reading from other owners of this car. The only issues I have with the car I bought is that the ac belt and compressor makes a bad noise(only when I first turn it on) after I first start the car but stops after a few minutes. i noticed the passenger side front wheel brake is missing the anti rattle clips and makes a noise when i hit a bump and when I have to brake from high speed. I'm picking those up tommorrow. I've changed oil and air filter and gave it a good cleaning. I've took it for a few trips and it rides smooth. Getting the right side brake looked at if it makes the same noise after I put the clips on, I just hope it doesnt need a axle.
